EMS Strategy
Microgrid Power Dispatch
Microgrid Voltage and Frequency Regulation
PV Power Absorption
On/Off-grid Switching
On/off-grid switching Strategy:
Normal Operation Mode: Under normal conditions, the grid supplies power, and the DG remains off. Both the BESS and the PV operate in grid-following P/Q mode. The loads dispatch can be managed by the EMS.
Grid Outage and BESS Response: Upon a grid outage, power supply to the loads is interrupted. Once the BESS detects the grid failure, the EMS commands the PCS to switch to VSG mode, acting as the grid-forming master to restore power to the loads.
Low BESS SOC and Genset Transition: When the BESS SOC drops to a low threshold, the EMS starts the diesel genset. The ATS then transfers the load to the genset.
Grid Restoration and BESS Response: When the BESS detects the restoration of stable grid power, the ATS switches back to the grid source to support the load. The EMS subsequently commands the PCS to return to P/Q (grid-following) mode to charge BESS and controls the DG to shut down.
