Normal Operation Mode: Under normal conditions, the DG remains off. The BESS operates as the grid-forming master for the microgrid using VSG control technology, autonomously maintaining system frequency and voltage stability. The PV system operates in grid-following (P/Q) mode, injecting power into the microgrid.
Low SOC Transition and Optimized Operation: When the BESS SOC drops to a low threshold, the EMS starts the DG to run at 0 kW. Once the BESS SOC reaches the minimum allowable limit, the BESS is shut down, and the DG automatically picks up the load, achieving a 0ms transition. The ESS then begins charging, prioritizing the absorption of available PV power. When the load demand is low, the EMS increases the BESS charging power to elevate the DG output, ensuring it operates within its optimal efficiency range.
